Today’s Business Live radio show, broadcast this morning on Sheffield Live 93.2FM and available as a podcast here, features live studio guests Maurizio Mori, proprietor of Nonnas Sheffield; Claire Collister, the Social Enterprise Programme Leader at Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union; and Roxana Whiteman who has launched a new social enterprise, Uncover.

Nonnas Sheffield recently beat competition from over 3,000 entries across the country to be named the “best Italian business” at the inaugural England Italian Awards. Proprietor Maurizio Mori discussed what he thought had impressed the judges and the voting public – and talked through the highs and the challenges of their near 20 years in business.

Claire Collister gave an insight into the support for social enterprise that Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union offers, including their Innovation Awards, open now for entries – Hallam students can apply for a Start Up grant for £500 to test out an idea or up to £3,000 to develop a business.

Roxana’s business ‘Uncover’ is a previous winner of a grant (and support) from Claire’s programme. Uncover aims to bring out people’s hidden talents through arts and crafts workshops while combating isolation. She recognised a need in her local community (Goldthorpe) for creative craft workshops and used the skills from her degree to deliver her project.
