Santander social enterprise development awards open

[I have no connection with Santander; simply posting this as some of you may be interested in applying!]

The Santander Social Enterprise Development Awards, which aim to “support community enterprises looking to grow and develop their business in order to improve their local community through critical social outcomes,” are open for entries until 1st July 2013.

The Development Awards have been split into segments:

  • Segment A offers a prize of £50,000 to social enterprises with a turnover of £250,000 – £1,000,000
  • Segment B offers a prize of £20,000 to social enterprises with a turnover of £100,000 – £250,000
  • Segment C offers a prize of £10,000 to social enterprises with a turnover of less than £100,000

Eligibility and criteria:

You are eligible to enter the Santander Social Enterprise Development Award if you can answer ‘yes’ to all of the following:

  • Are you a social enterprise or Community Interest Company?
  • Have you been established and trading for two or more years?
  • Do you have aspirations to grow your business?
  • Is your turnover less than £1,000,000 pa?
  • Two years of management/audited accounts available on request.
  • Are you generating 50% or more of your income from trading activities?
  • Does your business directly benefit your community in one or more of the following ways:
  • Improving social inclusion
  • Supporting training, skills & employment
  • Creating a greener environment
