Today’s guest on my Business Live radio programme was Dan Cluderay, founder of Sheffield-based Approved Food. Dan has appeared on TV’s Dragons’ Den in 2014, was on Loose Women recently too, and Approved Food is now the UK’s largest online-only discount retailer. In 2014 the business shipped around 9 million items to tens of thousands of customers.

Launched in 2008, Approved Food has been built on a foundation of what former market trader Dan described as “good old northern values.”

Dan is urging people to vote for Approved Food after submitting a “Pitch to Rich” entry that could see the business receive a funding boost from Virgin boss Richard Branson. During the 25 minute interview Dan discussed the history of Approved Food, challenges faced, and gave his tips for other people in business.
