It’s a YES for Sheffield Local TV

Fantastic news: Sheffield Local Television (SLTV) has been awarded the licence to operate Sheffield’s first digital local television channel. The decision, taken by communications regulator Ofcom, follows 20 months of campaigning.

Sheffield Local Television represents a consortium of Sheffield-based organisations launched in 2011 and led by Community Media Solutions Ltd (CMS), a Sheffield-based media development agency, and Cultural Industries Quarter Agency (CIQA), an urban regeneration and economic development agency with a focus on Sheffield’s creative and digital industries.

SLTV asked me to help with business and audience research, securing business support, and bid development during July in preparation to submitting a bid to Ofcom in August 2012 for the Sheffield local television license.

2 other competing bids were submitted but we are delighted that our (SLTV) bid has been chosen. Now for the next steps in getting the station – with its superb ideas for local programming – on air. I’m continuing to advise the SLTV board and it promises to be an exciting year ahead!
